Ukraine to provide ship drivers with approach routes to its ports before they enter Black Sea - state hydrographic agency

MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax) - Ukraine will begin providing ship drivers with information on approach routes to Ukrainian ports even before they enter the Black Sea, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to State Hydrography, a government agency responsible for providing navigation and hydrographic support within Ukraine's exclusive economic zone.

"From now on, the approach routes toward Ukraine's ports will be communicated to ship drivers not only when their ships approach our territorial waters, but also considerably earlier, when their ships are in the Mediterranean region," State Hydrography said.

The decision was made at a meeting between officials from State Hydrography and the NAVAREA III area coordinator.

The NAVAREA III area covers the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov, and its coordinator is the Spanish Marine Hydrographic Institute, it said.
