Ukrainian Energy Ministry reports hourly power supply restrictions in certain regions

MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax) - Hourly power supply schedules were applied to 350,000 clients in Kharkov and the Kharkov region on Thursday morning, in addition to restrictions in the Krivoi Rog region, Ukrainian media said, citing a statement by the Energy Ministry on a social network.

"No restrictions are planned in other regions. A power shortage is not expected," the ministry said.

Power outage caused by bad weather continues in 12 populated localities, including nine in the Chernigov region and three in the Zhitomir region, the Ukrenergo Power Transmission System Operator said for its part.

Practically all regions of Ukraine had a windy, sunny weather on Wednesday, which was good for renewable energy facilities. The Polish power system operator PSE provided emergency assistance from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by purchasing surplus Ukrainian electricity totaling 1,500 MW/h, in order to maintain the consumption-generation balance and operational safety of the power grid.

Additionally, the output of renewable energy facilities was limited to 864MW in certain hours to maintain balance of the power grid between 10:27 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday.
