Kazakhstan not planning V-Day military parade

ASTANA. April 3 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is not planning a military parade on the Fatherland Defender's Day and the Victory Day this year in order to save budget funds and to address the Army's priorities, the Kazakh Defense Ministry's press service told Interfax.

"It is not planned to have a military parade in Kazakhstan in 2024 in order to save budget funds and due to the need to address other issues," the press service said.

The current "priority is maintaining the proper level of combat readiness and mobility of the Kazakh Armed Forces," it said.

Kazakhstan cancelled military parades on the Fatherland Defender's Day and the Victory Day in 2020 and 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. There were no parades in 2022 and 2023 either for the purpose of saving budget funds.

Kazakhstan observes the Fatherland Defender's Day on May 7 and the Victory Day on May 9.
