Ukrainian govt approves agreement on opening checkpoint on Ukrainian-Romanian state border
MOSCOW. April 2 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has approved an agreement with the Romanian government on opening a new international checkpoint across the Ukrainian-Romanian state border between the communities of Ukraine's Belaya Tserkov and Romania's Sighetu Marmatiei.
The relevant decision was made at a government meeting on Tuesday, Ukrainian media reported, citing Ukrainian government's envoy to the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk.
In particular, the agreement (in the form of an exchange of notes) with the Romanian government on the opening of a new international checkpoint across the Ukrainian-Romanian state border between the communities of Belaya Tserkov and Sighetu Marmatiei, which was signed in Bucharest on August 18, 2023, was approved.
"Today, Ukraine and Romania are building up an extremely beneficial partnership. We are planning to create nine new border checkpoints in the western direction and upgrade another 13. All of this will provide great opportunities for Ukrainian exports and accelerate our sectoral integration into the European Union," Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said at a government meeting.
