Azerbaijani, Romanian energy ministers discuss LNG supplies, Solidarity Ring gas project

BAKU. April 2 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and his Romanian counterpart Sebastian Ioan Burduja agreed to take steps to expand cooperation at a meeting in Baku on Tuesday.

The ministers discussed the implementation of the project to create the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe "green" corridor, supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Romania, the Solidarity Ring gas project to increase Azerbaijani gas exports to Europe, and gas supplies between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Romania's Romgaz S.A., Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry told Interfax.

They also discussed prospects for cooperation with Transgaz on transportation of gas and exchanged views on the expansion of cooperation in trade of crude oil and oil products.

Energy companies from Azerbaijan, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia signed an agreement on the Solidarity Ring project in April 2023. Its goal is to use internal European gas interconnectors to increase supplies of Caspian gas through the Southern Gas Corridor.
