Over 400 populated areas across Ukraine have no electricity - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Specialists from the Ukrainian national power grid operator Ukrenergo repaired or replaced high-voltage equipment at substations making it possible to transmit about 2,000 MW of electricity from March 22 to April 1, Ukrainian media reported with reference to Ukrenergo's social media post.

This amount is typically consumed by a city with a population of over 3 million people in one hour, it said.

Ukrenergo specialists have put some equipment back into operation following repairs in the western part of the country in the past few days, thus making power supply more sustainable.

At the same time, the company acknowledged that there was a local power supply shortage in the area on the left bank of the Dnieper River due to damage caused to power plants. "This morning, consumption restrictions were imposed for all customers in the Kharkov region and for industrial consumers in Krivoi Rog," it said.

As of Monday morning, 412 settlements across the country were cut off from power supply for various reasons, it said.

Media reported with reference to the Ukrainian Energy Ministry that engineers have restored power supply to 17,600 customers over the past 24 hours.
