Kanat Bozumbayev becomes Kazakh deputy PM
ASTANA. April 1 (Interfax) - Kanat Bozumbayev has been appointed as deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan, according to a decree signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Sunday.
Berik Uali, the president's spokesman, said Bozumbayev's responsibilities would include overseeing regional policy, housing and communal services, emergency situations and water resources.
Bozumbayev, 55, was previously adviser to the Kazakh president. Throughout his career, he has held key positions such as energy minister and governor of the Pavlodar, Zhambyl and Almaty regions.
