Zelensky affirms Danilov's appointment as new ambassador in Chisinau

MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky affirmed the appointment of former National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Alexei Danilov as the Ukrainian ambassador to Moldova on Friday.

"Danilov continues his career as a diplomat. I have affirmed his nomination as the new Ukrainian ambassador in Chisinau," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in a video address.

Zelensky said Danilov told him about such a vision of his further career. Moldova is a crucial state from the angle of regional security challenges and bilateral cooperation, he said.

As reported, Zelensky relieved Danilov of duties as the NSDC secretary on March 27 and appointed former Foreign Intelligence Service chief Alexander Litvinenko in his stead.

Earlier, Zelensky removed Ukrainian ambassador in Chisinau Mark Shevchenko from office.
