Russia to create ship building, repair cluster in Primorye in 2024
VLADIVOSTOK. March 28 (Interfax) - A shipbuilding and ship repair cluster will be created in Primorye in 2024 and its key enterprises will be the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex and Shipbuilding & Composites LLC, a manufacture of vessels made from composite materials, the eastern Russian region's government reported.
"Our goal is to attract investment to the sector and increase production, develop local manufacturing of products and components for shipbuilding and ship repair, including ones mentioned in various import substitution lists," the region's industry and trade minister, Sergei Kalitin was quoted as saying in the press release.
The formation of the cluster will take into account the need to expand existing and build new cooperation ties not only among companies in the shipbuilding industry, but also with companies in other fields, as well as obtain state support, he said.
The Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex is being built on the basis of the Far East Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center by the consortium of state company Rosneftegaz, oil company Rosneft and Gazprombank . After all facilities are operational, Zvezda will be able to process 330,000 tonnes of metal per year and assemble vessels and marine equipment from large blocks. Rosneft is providing pilot orders for the complex.
Shipbuilding & Composites was established in Vladivostok in 2022, the Unified State Register of Legal Entities showed. The company's website said it builds yachts, catamarans and small boats. The company is headed and owned by Viktor Zuyev, who is also head and owner of Vladivostok restaurant business Kayut Company LLC.
