Armenia not currently discussing EU membership - parliamentary speaker
YEREVAN. March 27 (Interfax) - Armenia is not currently discussing its possible membership in the European Union, parliamentary speaker Alen Simonyan said.
"Armenia is not discussing EU membership at this stage. I don't think this could happen," Simonyan told journalists on Wednesday.
In late February, Simonyan said Armenia was willing to deepen relations with the EU and become a candidate for membership.
The European Parliament passed a resolution in mid-March in support of an opportunity for Armenia to apply for candidate status and calling for encouraging Yerevan's desire to have broader cooperation with the EU.
