McDonald's plans to open 6 new restaurants in Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - McDonald's Ukraine Ltd, which is developing the McDonald's chain of fast-food restaurants in Ukraine, plans to open six new outlets in 2024, McDonald's Ukraine CEO Yulia Badritdinova said in a press briefing on Tuesday.

"We expanded the network to 101 restaurants in 2023, ten of them are new restaurants. We opened a new format, which is located on the highway (near Zhitomir and in Alexandria). These outlets are not just on the highway, they are connected to the city, where we can hire staff and whose residents are our customers, too. We are planning to open at least six restaurants in 2024," Ukrainian media quoted her as saying.

The first McDonald's restaurant in Ukraine was opened on May 24, 1997 in Kiev.

As reported, McDonald's began to open restaurants in Ukraine in stages on September 20, 2022. Until February 24 of the same year, the chain had 109 restaurants in 24 cities of the country. As of March 2024, 101 outlets are operating.

At the end of 2023, McDonald's boosted its revenue 3.9 times year-on-year to UAH 12.9 billion, according to Opendatabot data.

The financial results for 2023 show that the company's net profit amounted to UAH 1.29 billion against a loss of UAH 2 billion in 2022.

The value of McDonald's Ukraine Ltd's assets is UAH 5.54 billion, the amount of liabilities rose 2.3 times to UAH 829.7 million.

The number of employees of the company in 2023 increased 7% up to 9,614 people.

McDonald's in Ukraine is a founding partner and the largest corporate partner of the Ronald McDonald House Foundation in Ukraine.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs, MCD Europe Limited (100%, London, UK) is a party of McDonald's Ukraine Ltd.
