Gazprom starts building 800 km Belogorsk-Khabarovsk gas pipeline
MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - Gazprom started to build the Belogorsk-Khabarovsk gas pipeline, the first stage of the extensive Eastern Gas Supply System project, in 2024, the Russian gas giant said.
The section will be more than 800 kilometers long and will connect the existing Power of Siberia and Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok trunklines.
The Gazprom management board on Thursday took into consideration information on the progress the Eastern Gas Supply System trunk pipeline system project. This is the first time the company has commented on this large-scale project.
"The project calls for the comprehensive development of gas transmission capacity in the East of Russia and its further amalgamation with gas infrastructure in the western part of the country. This will ensure additional reliability and flexibility of gas supplies to domestic consumers and will open up new opportunities for gasification in Siberia and the Far East," Gazprom said.
In addition, design and surveying is underway for other sections, it said.
