Slovenia declares Russian diplomat persona non grata - Foreign Ministry

ROME. March 21 (Interfax) - The Slovenian Foreign Ministry has declared a Russian diplomat persona non grata, the Slovenian TV and radio company RTVSLO said with reference to the ministry on Thursday.

"His activities were inconsistent with his diplomatic status," the ministry said.

The Russian diplomat must leave Slovenia by March 28.

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that it would take countermeasures. "We'll respond," it said.

Slovenian television recalled that in early April 2022 the Slovenian government demanded that the number of employees of the Russian embassy in Ljubljana be made equal to that of the Slovenian embassy in Moscow. Thirty-three employees of the Russian embassy left the country at the time.
