European Commission endorses proposal to use revenue from Russia's assets for Ukraine - vice president

BRUSSELS. March 20 (Interfax) - The European Commission endorsed on Wednesday a proposal to use extraordinary revenue from Russia's immobilized assets in the interest of Ukraine, Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis said.

"We adopted two items. A joint communication between the [European] Commission and [High Representative / Vice President] HRVP [Josep Borrell] on the use of extraordinary revenue from immobilized assets of the Russian Central Bank to the support of Ukraine and a joint proposal between the HRVP and the Commission for the Council [of the EU] regulation on the same issue," Dombrovskis said at a press conference in Brussels.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said earlier on Wednesday that he had presented an initiative of using revenue from Russia's frozen assets to aid Ukraine.
