Kremlin: Borrell's proposal to send revenue from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine ruinous for foundations of European law

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell's proposal on using the revenue from Russian assets immobilized in European countries to support Ukraine would be ruinous for the foundations of European and international law, the Kremlin said.

"This is yet another statement along the lines of moving towards ruining the legal foundations of European and international law," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.

"The Europeans are perfectly aware of the damage that such decisions could inflict on their economies, their image, and their reputation as reliable guarantors of the inviolability of property," he said.

"Damage will be inevitable, and the individuals connected with such decisions and the countries that make such decisions will definitely be targeted for litigation for decades," Peskov said.
