Polish farmers block 2 checkpoints on German border

MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax) - Polish farmers blocked two key crossing points on the border with Germany on Monday, March 18, to protest imports of agricultural products from the outside of the European Union and the EU's environmental policy, Ukrainian media reported.

A local police spokesperson said the blockade at the Swiecko and Gubinek crossing points would continue until the evening of March 20. The protesting farmers put tractors on the A2 highway to block it to traffic in both directions.

Polish farmers have been protesting for several months. Their demands include lifting or relaxing restrictions as part of efforts against climate change and reinstating customs duties on agricultural imports from Ukraine, which Brussels suspended after the start of the crisis in 2022.
