Rosselkhoznadzor enhances control over supplies of products from Brazil's Uniao Casings

MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax) - Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has enhanced laboratory control over the supply of products from Brazil's Uniao Casings, a global leader in producing natural casings, Rosselkhoznadzor's press service told Interfax.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that the watchdog has reached the decision in connection with the initial detection of the antibiotic metronidazole in beef natural casings. The enhanced regime has been in force since March 6 this year.

Market sources have said that a number of large producers of meat products in Russia are the purchasers of Uniao Casings' products.
