Line of trucks at Latvian-Russian borders grows to 1,700

PSKOV. March 19 (Interfax) - Over 1,700 trucks are queueing to cross into Russia's Pskov region from Latvia.

As of Tuesday morning, 1,350 trucks are waiting to enter Russia through the Burachki crossing point in the Sebezh district of the Pskov region (Terehova on the Latvian side of the border), the Russian Federal Customs Service said. Russian customs officers have admitted 141 trucks into the country over the past 24 hours.

Another 380 trucks are waiting to enter Russia's Pytalovo district in the Pskov region through the Grebnova-Ubylinka crossing. As many as 115 trucks have been cleared to enter Russia at that location over the past 24 hours.

As reported, the increased number of trucks arriving at the Burachki-Terehova and Ubylinka-Grebnova checkpoints at the Russian-Latvian border has resulted from changes in the logistics following the Lithuanian government's decision to close the Raigardas-Privalka and Lavoriskes-Kotlovka checkpoints at the Lithuanian-Belarusian border starting from March 1, 2024.

About 1,400-1,500 trucks have been regularly queueing to cross into Russia's Pskov region through Latvian borders since March 1.
