Moldovan president announces plans to hold referendum on EU integration in Oct
CHISINAU. March 18 (Interfax) - Moldovan President Maia Sandu has announced plans to hold a referendum on including the country's ambitions for EU integration in the Constitution in October.
"A referendum on the issue of Moldova joining the EU this fall will determine out present and future for decades to come," Sandu told a press conference on Monday.
She called on the country's parliament to begin preparations for the referendum and conduct the necessary procedures. At least one third of MPs need to initiate the referendum by filing a request with the Constitutional Court.
