UN FAO to provide free soybean, sunflower seeds to Ukrainian farmers
MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations together with Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry have announced the start of a new program to support Ukrainian farmers by providing them with soybean and sunflower seeds for the spring sowing campaign in 2024, Ukrainian media said, citing the ministry's press service.
The program is open for small and medium-sized farms and agricultural producers from a number of regions with land plots ranging from ten to 500 hectares, the ministry said.
The amount of the program's support will depend on the size of cultivated land. In total, more than 3,000 farmers from the Chernigov, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Nikolayev and Sumy regions and the Kiev-controlled part of the Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are entitled to assistance as part of this program.
Applicants can register through the State Agrarian Registry until March 24, 2024.
However, submitting an application does not guarantee participation in the program, the ministry said.
