Azerbaijan boosts gas supplies to Italy 3.1% via Trans Adriatic Pipeline in January

BAKU. March 18 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan boosted gas supplies to Italy 3.1% year-on-year to 878 million cubic meters via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in January 2024, Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security said.

The ministry said that Italy received around 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan via TAP last year, a decline of 3.2% year-on-year.

TAP pumps gas to Europe from the Shah Deniz field in Azerbaijan's sector of the Caspian Sea as part of Stage 2 of the field's development.

As previously reported, Italy allocated about 5 billion euros to purchase Azerbaijani gas in 2023, according to the statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat.
