Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods down by 11.7% in Jan 2024 - State Statistics Service

MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - The negative balance of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods decreased by 11.7% in January 2024 compared with the same month of 2023, to $1.678 billion from $1.9 billion, Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to the State Statistics Service.

According to the State Statistics Service, export of goods from Ukraine increased by 8.2% in January 2024, reaching $3.4 billion, and import went up by 0.7%, reaching $5.078 billion.

The seasonally adjusted volume of exports increased by 7.4% to $3.47 billion in January 2024 as compared to December 2023, and the seasonally adjusted volume of imports remained nearly the same, $5.536 billion, it said.

The seasonally adjusted foreign trade balance was negative in January 2024 and stood at $2.066 billion. In December 2023, it was also negative at $2.304 billion.

The export-import coverage ratio was 0.67 in January 2024 (0.62 in January 2023).

Foreign trade transactions were conducted with partners from 191 countries, the State Statistics Service said.
