Flour prices drop in Ukraine due to blockade of Ukrainian-Polish border, impossibility of export

MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - Wheat flour started gradually going down in price in Ukraine since early March due to the problems with transit via Poland where farmers on strike are constantly blocking the borders, Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to the APK-Inform information and analytical agency.

"The excessive amount of supply of flour and a moderate demand among both domestic and export-oriented companies are continuing to put pressure on prices. It is nearly impossible to sell flour to the export market because of the strikes on the Polish border, which also has an influence on the gradual decline in prices," analysts said.

According to APK-Inform, since the beginning of the month, prices of high-grade flour declined by 100-300 hryvni/tonne and were recorded mostly within 9,700-11,100 hryvni/tonne EXW as of March 15.
