Rostec to create machine-tool building cluster in Bashkiria by 2028, to invest more than 7 bln rubles - authorities

UFA. March 15 (Interfax) - Bashkir-based holding Stan (part of Rostec State Corporation) intends to create a machine-tool cluster in the region as part of the expansion of production, the press service for the regional governor said in a statement.

"Investments in the expansion of machine-tool production are to exceed 7 billion rubles. The project, which runs through 2028, envisages modernization and construction of facilities for casting and assembly of equipment," the report said.

Implementation of the project will proceed in two stages. Thus, at the first stage (starting in spring 2024) there are plans to build a separate foundry on the basis of the "RT-StanLit" company currently being established. The new facility will be located on a site with a total area of more than 4 hectares, of which about 15,500 square meters will be occupied directly by a foundry for casting of gray and high-strength cast iron. Production capacity will be 5,200 tonnes of castings per year. Creation of 237 jobs is envisaged. The foundry is scheduled to be launched in 2026, with investments of over 3.5 billion rubles.

The second stage (beginning in 2027) envisages the expansion of production lines at NPO Stankostroenie. A new mechanical assembly shop with a capacity of 120 machine tools per year will be organized at the enterprise, with a total area of 40,000 square meters. The project worth more than 4 billion rubles also involves modernization of the existing lines and expansion of the production infrastructure of the enterprise, including the creation of logistics and exhibition centers, renewal of engineering and electrical networks, construction of a transformer substation, communications and roads.

"This is a breakthrough and ambitious project for our republic. When we implement it, we will become the largest manufacturer of machine tools in Russia. We actively supported Rostec's proposal to build a foundry here, we have already held talks with the state corporation's management," Bashkiria regional head Radiy Khabirov said in the statement.

As reported, the prospects of creating a machine-tool cluster in the region were discussed back in 2022. It was envisaged that it could include Sterlitamak-based NPO Stankostroenie, JSC Belebeyevsky Avtonormal Plant, M-Robo LLC, ECM-Stankomontazh Group of Companies and Sterlitamak Polytechnic College.
