Kyrgyzstan extends ban on exports of timber, forest products outside of EAEU

BISHKEK. March 15 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz government has extended a ban on exports of timber and forest products outside of the Eurasian Economic Union's customs territory, the government said on its website.

The government directive imposes a temporary ban on exports of timber and forest products outside of Kyrgyzstan for six months.

The Economy Ministry and the Foreign Ministry have been instructed to notify the World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat, the Eurasian Economic Commission, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Executive Committee of the ban.

Kyrgyzstan occasionally imposes restrictions to prevent the re-export of forest products delivered to the country from Russia duty free. Last time it imposed such a ban in September 2023.
