Ukraine's USFs storing 8.1 bcm of gas in mid-March - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - Ukraine's underground gas storage facilities (USFs) are currently holding 8.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, Ukrainian media said, citing Deputy Energy Minister Nikolai Kolesnik's remarks at a roundtable, tilted 'Second Year of the Ban on Natural Gas Exports from Ukraine: Consequences and Prospects'.

Agneta Kutselim, head of Ukrtransgaz' commercial department, said, for her part, that 740 million cubic meters of the aforementioned volume belong to non-residents, 2.2 bcm to residents, and 4.6 bcm to Naftogaz Group.

It was also said at the roundtable that Ukraine consumed 19.6 bcm of gas in 2023, among them 3.4 bcm by industry given the overall gas output of 18.9 bcm, including 3.1 bcm by private producers.

As reported, Ukraine stored 16 bcm of natural gas in its USFs in November 2023. The amount had dropped to 8.5 bcm by March 1, 2024.
