Ukraine's DTEK Energo launches six new coal mine faces in Jan-Feb

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - DTEK Energy, Ukraine's largest private power company, put six new coal mine faces into operation in January-February, Ukrainian media reported, citing a company statement on Telegram.

"Last month, miners launched six new mine faces. Thanks to the hard work of miners, we managed to launch one of them ahead of schedule. In total, we've already launched six new mine faces in the first two months of 2024. This will make it possible to meet the fuel needs of thermal power plants that generate electricity for our homes and the Ukrainian economy," the company said.

DTEK Energy recalled that it almost doubled investment in coal mining in Ukraine to about UAH7 billion in 2023 and put 26 new coal mine faces into operation.

DTEK Energy CEO Ildar Saleyev was reported as saying earlier that the company plans to launch a total of 25 new mine faces this year.

DTEK was formed in 2005 to manage the energy assets of Rinat Akhmetov's System Capital Management Group.
