EEC recommends EAEU countries buy renewable energy equipment from certain producers

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has recommended that Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries buy equipment for renewable energy from certain manufacturers from a list compiled by the Commission.

"The EEC Board on March 13 identified promising areas for the development of industrial cooperation in the field of renewable energy in the EAEU. This refers to small hydropower, wind energy, solar and geothermal energy, tidal power plants and production of biofuel. It is recommended that EAEU countries take into account the compiled list of manufacturers of components for systems based on renewable energy sources posted on the Union's official website," the EEC said in a press release.

The EEC also recommended stimulating the development of production in EAEU member countries of primary and auxiliary generating equipment used to produce electricity from renewable sources.

The EEC proposed that EAEU countries "facilitate the participation of manufacturers of systems based on renewable energy sources in cooperation and process chains for organizing the production of economically competitive equipment (including fundamentally new energy systems) with the maximum possible localization of production."

The implementation of the EEC's recommendations will make it possible to systematize measures to develop industrial cooperation among EAEU countries in this field and supplement existing measures of regulatory support for the development of renewable energy, the press release said.
