Russia resumes exporting Sakhalin oil to Asian country after two-month break - Central Bank

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Russia has resumed exporting oil from projects in the Sakhalin region "to one of the Asian countries", the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) said in a report on the regional economy.

"Oil production at Sakhalin in January remained at the high level of late 2023, though below the average level in 2021. Oil supplies have resumed from Sakhalin to one of the Asian countries after a two-month break," the CBR said.

Bloomberg reported in December 2023 that tankers loaded with nearly 5 million barrels of Russian Sokol crude destined for delivery to India had been idling for unknown reasons several miles from the final destination. Foreign media in February, citing sources, reported that India had resumed importing Russian Sokol crude after a two-month break.
