Russian Railways plans over 2% growth in freight transport per year through 2030

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - JSC Russian Railways plans to increase freight transportation by the end of the decade, CEO Oleg Belozerov said during Government Hour in the State Duma.

"For freight transport, we can assume an average annual growth rate through 2030 of over 2%. This is almost plus 200 million tonnes compared to 2023," he said.

Russian Railways' container transport has increased over 11% per year the last 6 years, reaching 7.4 million TEU in 2023. "We intend to increase it by a third to 10 million TEU by 2030," Belozerov said.
