Armenia's dialogue with Turkey difficult but essential - Pashinyan

YEREVAN. March 12 (Interfax) - There is a dialogue with the Turkish presidents, but the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey is not moving forward fast enough, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

"There's a very important thing in our relations with Turkey, namely, we're talking to each other. And I believe we're having a dialogue with the Turkish president. It's proceeding with great difficulty, but it's important to make sure that this conversation takes place," Pashinyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Armenian and Turkish special representatives for normalizing relations between the two countries are permanently in touch, and the two foreign ministers communicate regularly, he said.

"We might misunderstand each other on some things, and this produces negative energy. But it is defused through a dialogue," Pashinyan said.

"We should have and we do have an agenda [of normalizing relations] with Turkey. Unfortunately, it's not being implemented at a proper speed," Pashinyan said.

"I see and feel Turkey's presence" in the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he said.

"But we shouldn't perceive our relations with Turkey through the prism of our relations with Azerbaijan," Pashinyan said.
