Ukraine's DTEK increases production of electricity by 6% in Jan-Feb

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - DTEK Energo's thermal power plants supplied the Ukrainian energy system with over 2.6 billion kWh of electricity in the first two months of 2024, and it is 6% more than in January-February 2023.

"Despite the crisis, the balancing capacities of DTEK Energo's thermal power plants continue maintaining the reliability of the heat generation and the energy system, especially during peak consumption," Ukrainian media outlets quoted the energy holding's statement as saying.

According to DTEK Energo CEO Ildar Saleyev, throughout the winter, all available equipment at the company's thermal power plants operated at its maximum and was used not only to balance the energy system, but also to carry the basic load, especially during growths of consumption caused by the weather conditions and low temperatures.

DTEK's thermal power plants generated 15.2 billion kWh of electricity in 2023, the company said.

DTEK Energo Energy provides a closed cycle of electricity generation from coal. The installed capacity of its heat generation was 13.3 GW as of January 2022. A complete production circle involving coal mining and enrichment, machine building, and maintenance of mine equipment, was created in coal mining.
