Poland expects to reach mutually beneficial agreement with Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czeslaw Siekierski and Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Nikolai Solsky discussed the need for resolving problems in bilateral trade relations between Ukraine and Poland as soon as possible at an online meeting on Thursday.

"The Polish side expects to reach an agreement with the Ukrainian side, which will contribute to addressing disruptions on the Polish market and ending farmers' protests," Ukrainian media reported, quoting the Polish ministry as saying on its website.

When asked by Solsky about the demands regarding the Green Deal, Siekierski said that Warsaw aims to remove excessive demands for farmers.

"Our expectations are clear: we will not be pleased with cosmetic changes," Siekierski said, noting that he hopes the review of the Green Deal will improve the situation of farmers who currently face the problem of low profitability of their farms.

It is noted that Solsky said he understands the Polish side's demands and noted that Ukrainian farmers expect solutions and put pressure on the Agrarian Policy Ministry.

The two ministers also discussed preparations for participation in the ninth meeting of the Polish-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which is scheduled for the near future.
