Zelensky approves Zaluzhny's candidacy for Ukrainian ambassador to UK

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has approved Valery Zaluzhny's candidacy for Ukrainian ambassador in London, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

"On Thursday, March 7, 2024, the Ukrainian president approved Valery Zaluzhny's candidacy for the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland," Ukrainian media quoted the Foreign Ministry as saying on its official website.

As reported, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has filed a request for an agrement with the British side.

As reported, on February 8, Zelensky signed executive orders dismissing Zaluzhny as commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and appointing Alexander Syrsky to this post.

Vadim Pristaiko, who served as Ukrainian foreign minister from August 2019 to March 2020, was Ukrainian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the UK from July 20, 2020 to July 21, 2023.
