Russia begins exporting pork to China, Miratorg makes first shipment

MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax) - Miratorg, one of Russia's leading agricultural holdings, sent the first shipment of pork produced at Belgorod Region's Korocha pork processing complex to China, the company reports.

The shipment volume was 27 tonnes of finished products. It includes by-products that have undergone high-quality processing and meant to be sold all year round, regardless of the season.

The shipment was made under the supervision of Rosselkhoznadzor, the agency said in a statement. "The cargo will travel from the Belgorod region to Vladivostok by rail, and then by sea to the Chinese port of Nansha," Rosselkhoznadzor said.

The products were selected with the national characteristics of Chinese cuisine in mind, while logistics were developed for transportation from the company's new wholesale distribution center in the Korochansky district of the Belgorod region.

Previously, Miratorg supplied beef and poultry to China not just for the HoReCa segment, but also for sale in retail chains.

"As we meet both Russian and Chinese veterinary requirements, we are counting on stable demand and systematic growth in pork supplies," the press release said.

This is the first batch of Russian pork sent to the Chinese market after China lifted restrictions on pork exports from Russia in September 2023.
