Demand for used foreign cars imported to Ukraine rises by one third in Feb - Ukravtoprom

MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax) - Ukrainian car fleet has been replenished with 17,800 used passenger cars imported from abroad in February, up by one third year-on-year, Ukrainian media reported, citing Ukravtoprom as saying on social media.

As reported, 5,700 new passenger cars (up by 51%) were registered for the same month, the association said.

The largest share in the segment of used foreign cars last month still belonged to gasoline cars accounting for 48%, followed by diesel cars 27%, electric cars 16%, cars with compressed gas equipment 5%, and hybrids 4%.

Volkswagen Golf is still leading among imported used cars with 963 registrations.

The top 10 most popular models also include: Renault Megane with 806 cars, Skoda Octavia with 688 cars, Volkswagen Passat with 572 cars, Volkswagen Tiguan with 451 cars, Nissan Leaf with 416 cars, Nissan Rogue with 414 cars, Audi Q5 with 409 cars, Tesla Model 3 with 380 cars, and Audi A4 with 349 cars.

The average age of used cars, which were transferred to Ukrainian license plates in February, is 9.4 years (it was 9.8 years in January of this year).

In total, in January-February, 34,500 used cars imported from abroad underwent the first registration in Ukraine, which is up 38% year-on-year.

As reported, demand for used foreign cars in Ukraine dropped 54% in February 2023 year-on-year to 13,500 cars, led by Renault Megan with 1,049 cars.

For the whole last year, registrations of such cars fell 45% to 214,400 cars year-on-year.
