Russian financial watchdog adds chess grandmaster Kasparov to list of terrorists, extremists

MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) has added former chess world champion and Russian opposition politician Garry Kasparov, designated as a foreign agent in Russia, to the list of individuals and organizations believed to be involved in extremist activities or terror.

The information appeared on Rosfinmonitoring's list on Wednesday.

Banks freeze assets and suspend services to people on the list by law.

Kasparov is a Soviet and Russian chess grandmaster and world champion. He participated in the Russian opposition movement and left Russia in 2013.
