UK lifts sanctions against Itera founder Makarov, who renounced Russian citizenship

MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - The United Kingdom has lifted sanctions imposed against the businessman Igor Makarov, according to a document published on the government website.

Makarov came to prominence as the founder of the Itera Group. Following its sale, he created Areti International. Makarov was hit by UK sanctions in September 2022.

Forbes said Makarov renounced his Russian citizenship last year, retaining only Cypriot citizenship.
