Kazakhstan starts to export ammonium nitrate via Batumi port

ASTANA. March 5 (Interfax) - A first cargo of 3,000 tonnes of Kazakh ammonium nitrate has been exported via the port of Batumi in Georgia, the KazTransOil press service said.

"The cargo was shipped from the port of Aktau to the port of Hovsan in Azerbaijan and sent for transshipment at the port of Batumi Georgia, with subsequent export to world markets," it said.

According to the press service, the shipper of the mineral fertilizer is KazAzot JSC.

"By the end of 2024, the manufacturer plans to ensure the shipment of ammonium nitrate via the Trans-Caspian international transport route to the port of Batumi in a volume of over 50,000 tonnes," the press service said.

KazTransOil directly owns and manages production assets in Georgia through Batumi Oil Terminal LLC (BNT). BNT has exclusive rights to manage a 100% stake in Batumi Sea Port LLC.
