Ukrainian market of new commercial automobiles up 41% in Feb YoY - association
MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - The number of new commercial automobiles, including trucks and special-purpose vehicles, registered in Ukraine grew 41% to 1,025 in February 2024 compared to February 2023, which is also 31% more than in January 2024, Ukrainian media reported citing Ukrautoprom, the national association of motor vehicle manufacturers, as saying on its social account.
In terms of automobile brands, as before, Renault was far ahead of the nearest competitors by selling 303 automobiles in February 2024, which is 120% more than it did in February 2023.
Scania, the 2023 leader in the category of trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tonnes, sold the second largest number of its automobiles, 68, in February 2024. As per Ukrautoprom's statistics, Scania was 12th on the list by selling 30 automobiles in February 2023 and 23 in January 2023.
Mercedes-Benz was third with 56 automobiles sold in Ukraine in February 2024, followed by Citroen and MAN with 54 each.
China's JAC, whose sales were the second largest in Ukraine in January 2024, dropped off the top-5 list in February.
Over 1,800 new automobiles have joined the Ukrainian fleet of trucks and special-purpose automobiles since the start of 2024, which is 26% more than in the same period last year.
As reported, Ukraine registered 728 new trucks and special-purpose automobiles in February 2023, down 22.6% from February 2022, and the top-5 brands sold on the Ukrainian market included Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Citroen, Iveco, and Ford.
According to Ukrautoprom, the Ukrainian market of commercial and special-purpose automobiles grew 65% to over 11,300 in 2023 compared to 2022.
