Sweden opens export credit guarantees totaling SEK333 million for Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - The Swedish Export Credits Guarantee Board (EKN) began accepting applications for special credit guarantees for exports to Ukraine on March 1, the guarantees are limited to SEK333 million ($32.1 million at the current exchange rate) by the national budget.

The process is based on a Swedish government resolution adopted on February 29, Ukrainian media said, citing EKN.

In addition to new export credit guarantees, it is decided to open the trade secretary's office in Kiev and to appoint a new trade secretary, the press release said.

"Export credit guarantees and the opening of a new trade office in Kiev will make it easier for Swedish companies to invest in Ukraine. This is a concrete example of how the government is working to increase the synergy between aid, trade and business promotion," the press release quoted Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell as saying.

It noted that the guarantees would be provided for exports promoting Ukraine's development and welfare.
