Demand for cars growing in Ukraine - Ukrautoprom association

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - The number of primary registrations of new cars in Ukraine grew in January-February by 50% to top 10,000 compared to the same period in 2023, Ukrainian media reported citing Ukrautoprom, the national association of motor vehicle manufacturers, as saying on its social account.

Nearly 5,700 new cars were sold in Ukraine in February 2024, which is 51% more than in February 2023 and 29.5% more than in January 2024, it said.

The number of new cars sold in February 2024 was only 11% fewer than in February 2021, Ukrautoprom said.

In terms of car brands, Toyota saw the largest number of new car sales in February, 858, growing by 70% from February 2023, followed by Renault with 706 (+64%), Volkswagen with 472 (+53%), Skoda with 452 (+38%), and Peugeot with 348 (+364%).

In terms of specific car models, Renault Duster remained the bestselling car in Ukraine with 603 new registrations in February.

Slightly more than 3,700 new cars were sold in Ukraine in February 2023, 30% fewer than in February 2022, the association said.

The number of primary registrations of new cars in Ukraine grew 60.6% to nearly reach 61,000 in 2023 compared to 2022.
