Inflation in Kazakhstan 1.1% in Feb, annual inflation 9.3%

ALMATY. March 1 (Interfax) - Inflation in Kazakhstan was 1.1% in February compared to 0.8% in January 2024, the Strategic Planning and Reforms Agency's National Statistics Bureau said.

Annual inflation was 9.3% in February.

Food prices rose 7.4% in annual terms in February, prices for non-food goods rose 8.5% and service charges 12.8%.

Annual inflation was above the national average in 10 regions, and highest in the Karaganda region at 11.5%, East Kazakhstan region at 10.2% and Mangistau region at 10%.

Wastewater disposal charges rose 33.9% year-on-year, central heating 30.9%, cold water supply 30.8%, refuse collection 30.7%, hot water supply 29.4% and electricity 19.9%.

Taxi fares went up 11.7% in price, city buses 9.3% and rail fares 8.7%, while airfares declined 4%.

Prices for diesel increased 14.5%, gasoline 13.6% and liquefied gas 12.9%.

Kazakhstan had 9.8% inflation in 2023 and 20.3% in 2022.
