Interfax-Center opens press center in Smolensk

The Interfax-Center News Agency, part of the Interfax International Services Group has announced the opening of a press center in Smolensk.

“The opening of a center of a leading Russian news agency in Smolensk is a particularly important event for the region, bearing in mind the professional coverage of economic events by Interfax journalists,” Smolensk Regional Governor Viktor Maslov, said at the beginning of the first press conference in the new press center.

“Active work in the area will contribute to the creation of a decent investment image and growth in the investment attractiveness of the Smolensk region, both for Russia and for foreign countries,” the governor said. “I am convinced that Interfax came to the region for business and for a long time,” Maslov said.

“The opening of the Interfax-Center press center in Smolensk,” the fifth such center in the Central Federal District (the news agency earlier opened press centers in Yaroslavl, Rayzan, Voronezh and Ivanovo), “is an important stage in forming an effective information infrastructure in the region. I believe that our new press center will become the most popular ground for meetings and interesting discussions of political and business communities with media organizations,” Interfax-Center General Director Leonid Persky said.

“The opening of a press center in Smolensk is proof of Interfax’s consistent policy on the spreading of information in the Russian regions. Information from Smolensk will not only draw additional attention from potential investors, the authorities and media organizations to the region, but also to give more information on the ancient Russian city” he said.
