Interfax included in Inside Market Data Reference review

Interfax is the first Russian news agency to have been included in the Inside Market Data Reference annual review, compiled by U.S. publisher Incisive Media.

The review contains dozens of providers of exchange information, news, fundamental data and solutions from various countries, primarily the United States and Britain, and systematized information about the leading companies.

Inside Market Data Reference, the only publication of its kind in the world, also publishes widely quoted estimates of the volume of the global financial information market and the shares of that market held by its major participants, like Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, Interactive Data, Dow Jones and others.

"The market for professional financial and business information has been our priority since the early 1990s," said Mikhail Komissar, Chairman of the Interfax board of Directors. "In recent years the development of the Russian, Chinese and CIS economies, heightened interest in these on the part of foreign investors, and the globalization processes and technological progress have enabled us to create products which have alerted those beyond the national markets, and we are pleased that authoritative independent experts have turned their attention to this also," Komissar said.

Traditionally, commercial information for traders, investors, and experts is divided into three segments: news, fundamental and analytical data and market (or stock exchange) data.

Interfax is present in all of these segments. The company issues over 60 various financial and economic news products, assigns ratings, provide access to stock exchange information (the EfiR system) and to fundamental data on companies (the SPARK database). Market players consider Interfax as one of three leaders on the professional financial information market in Russia, together with Reuters and Bloomberg.

The Association for the Development of Financial Communication and Relations with Investors, of which Interfax is a member, estimates that the Russian market of professional financial information is worth $150 million per year. Experts think that the market of financial news and market data grows by up to 20% per year.
