Severstal has been recognized as the most open company of the year in terms of disclosure

Severstal, one of the world‘s largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, has won an annual contest looking at active corporate policy in the area of information disclosure.

The jury, which includes representatives from information agencies Interfax and AK&M, the Central Bank of Russia, Moscow Exchange and Russian IR Association ARFI, commented that Severstal discloses information to investors in full and on time. Its website is one of the best examples of interaction with investors. The company is among the first to release international reports, it regularly holds Investor Days and call conferences with analysts. "Severstal has won the contest for the second time in the ten years since the competition began. This is a sign of stability and a deliberate approach to information transparency," Vladimir Gerasimov, the executive director of the Interfax Group and the jury chairman, said.

Severstal makes every effort to help investors and partners obtain the fullest information on the company‘s financial and operational situation, objectively evaluating its results and taking timely investment decisions. "Guided by the requirements of stock market regulators and legislation on information disclosure, we aim to follow the best international practices in this area. The honorary prize – a transparent glass crystal, symbolizing openness – was awarded to a representative of the company on December 2 in a ceremony to award winners and laureates of the national Director of the Year national prize, organized by the Association of Independent Directors and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Interfax and AK&M have since 2003 run the information disclosure competition for Russian stock market participants. Corporate information centers have been set up on the basis of the agencies and anyone can use them to find all reports on significant corporate events, corporate reports and other important information for the market.

In selecting a winner for the information disclosure prize, the jury takes into account the completeness and timeliness of reports, information on corporate events, information on end beneficiaries, ownership, the synchrony of disclosure for Russian and foreign investors and an overall assessment of company conduct in the information field.
