The main purpose of the project is to promote civic journalism, and to paint the most comprehensive and reliable picture of developments taking place in all parts of Russia and other former Soviet republics.
The PublicPost concept is a combination of a blog platform and professional journalism which is popular on the international web media market. This approach helps make the coverage of events more colorful and interesting.
"Here anyone will be able to relate an event is his or her own city or country or in the world. Here anyone will be able to express his or her opinion, evaluate the developments and receive high quality and interesting information from leading figures in politics, economics, and culture. We hope to live up to our motto - Public Post is a live country - and join the top 15 Russian web media outlets in three to four years," Nargiz Asadova, editor-in-chief of the website, said.
"I believe that PublicPost is a place where very different public and political figures will be able to freely discuss the future of Russia. If we see heated, creative and interesting debates on the website, if all, even opposing points of view are represented on it, we will regard this as an achievement of the new web publication," Alexei Venediktov, Ekho Moskvy editor-in-chief and one of the masterminds of the project, said.
"So far, Interfax Group has been mainly working on projects in the B2B segment. PublicPost will allow us to expand the audience and hopefully gain even greater popularity among Internet users," Alexei Korsakov, Interfax Deputy General Director, said.
"PublicPost is meant to become a site for intellectual blogs that will not only deal with pressing issues but also seek ways of resolving them," Yury Rovensky, Sberbank Vice President and PR Director, said. "Besides, the project is a logical continuation of the issue of crowdsourcing to the development of which Sberbank is attaching great attention."
