The Interfax Information Services Group has become the first organization to win the Peter the Great International Public Award. The award is given for outstanding contributions to the development of cultural, scientific, political and social-economic cooperation between Russia and foreign countries.

The winner‘s certificate says that Interfax received the award due to its "creation of new standards for presenting current information, which promotes the supply of information about Russia‘s political and economic life to the international public." The award has been given to a number of Russian and foreign politicians, businessmen and artists.

The award ceremony was held on December 17 within the framework of the 7th Peter the Great Assembly of the 21st Century in Moscow.
Managers of the New Epoch Foundation established the Peter the Great International Public Award on September 21, 2000 for Russian and foreign citizens. Starting from 2004, the award has begun being presented to Russian and foreign organizations as well.
