Interfax-Siberia News Agency Opens Office and Press Center in Krasnoyarsk

The Interfax-Siberia news agency, which is part of the Interfax Information Services international group, has announced the opening of an office and press center in Krasnoyarsk.

"The Krasnoyarsk territory occupies a special place among the 16 constituent territories of the Siberian federal district and is also a strategically important and dynamically developing industrialized area of Russia," — said Yelena Pochestneva, Interfax-Siberia project manager.
"Our agency has been operating for less than six months, and from the very start, we have considered establishing an office in Krasnoyarsk and a press center operating on its basis as an essential condition for the project‘s further advancement. We view it as quite an achievement that we carried out the task in such a short time aimed at benefiting the main objective — the development of a high quality and ample information flow from the whole of Siberia."
Edkham Akbulatov, deputy governor of the territory and chief of the territorial administration‘s economic development and industry department, became the first guest of the Interfax-Siberia press center in Krasnoyarsk opened on April 14.
The Krasnoyarsk office and its press center became the second Interfax-Siberia office in the Siberian federal district. The head office was opened in Novosibirsk at the end of 2003. In addition, Interfax-Siberia runs successful bureaus in Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Tomsk, Omsk and the Kemerovo regions, in the internal republics of Buryatiya, Khakassia and Tyva and also in the Altai territory.
Interfax-Siberia is planning to open an office and press center in Irkutsk in the near future.
Interfax-Siberia, set up at the end of 2003, is a member of Interfax Information Services international group and specializes in covering events in the Siberian federal district. It runs its own newswire, which reports local and federal news for the mass media, government bodies, companies and banks.
