Ukraine, Sweden sign memorandum of cooperation on social policy

MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Oksana Zholnovich and Swedish Minister for Social Services Camilla Waltersson Gronvall have signed a memorandum of understanding between the two governments to promote cooperation on social policy and the protection of children's rights.

"I am thankful to Sweden for its initiatives in protecting Ukrainian children and supporting family upbringing reforms in Ukraine. I am convinced that this memorandum will enable us to develop close interaction in providing social services and implementing the international classification of functioning for children in Ukraine," Ukrainian media reported referring to Zholnovich's statement circulated by the ministry's press service.

The memorandum provides for cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden in promoting family forms of upbringing and preventing child exploitation, abuse, and neglect and violence against children.
